1887 Indian Head Cent & 1936 S Buffalo Nickel – Two-Coin U.S. Type Lot
Offered here is a two-coin lot of classic United States coinage, featuring an 1887 Indian Head Cent and a 1936 Buffalo Nickel. Together, these coins represent two of the most recognizable designs from early American circulating coinage.
The 1887 Indian Head Cent features Liberty wearing a feathered headdress with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA surrounding the portrait and the date below. The reverse displays ONE CENT within a wreath topped by the Union shield. This example is well circulated, with considerable wear and an aged brown appearance, but the date and major design elements remain visible.
The 1936 S Buffalo Nickel features James Earle Fraser's Native American portrait on the obverse with LIBERTY along the rim. The reverse depicts the iconic American bison above FIVE CENTS. The coin exhibits substantial circulation wear, with the date still visible and the major design elements identifiable.
Lot Includes:
- 1887 Indian Head Cent
- Philadelphia Mint – No Mint Mark
- Bronze composition
- Designer: James B. Longacre
- 1936 S Buffalo Nickel
- San Francisco Mint – S Mint Mark
- Copper-Nickel composition
- Designer: James Earle Fraser
Both coins are offered as circulated examples and show wear, marks, discoloration, and surface characteristics consistent with their age and use. No numerical grades are being assigned. Please examine the photographs carefully to determine condition for yourself.
