In 1979, after being in the antique business for nine years doing major antique shows in Pennsylvania and Ohio, Jerry and Mary Smith established Smith's Antique and Auction Service. Over the years their children and families have take positions in the business and to date it is still family owned and operated. Smith's Antique and Auction Service, the only full-time auction service in the Alle-Kiski Valley, specializes in Antiques, Coins, Collectibles, and Jewelry. We also conduct Appraisals, on the premise Estate/Business Liquidations, and Real Estate Auctions. With two auctioneers (Jerry and Lee Smith) and an extensive knowledge of merchandise value, we are able to perform a quality sale in a short period of time. In June of 1999, Smith's Antique and Auction Service established a website called Smith's Auction Plus. The purpose of the site, created and maintained by Smith's Auction, is to provide our customers with more information than we can provide in newspapers and flyers while reaching a larger audience of customers. The Internet contains a vast source of resources and information, it only seemed natural that we joined in. Over the years we have continued to look at ways to improve our site as well as the business. We now offer on-line bidding to individuals unable to attend our auctions and provide detailed photos of many of the items we offer so those interested can view the item long before the auction is conducted. As we move forward we will continue to look at ways to improve in order to provide our customers the most that we can.Auctions are no longer dirty old backyard sales that take days to unload instead they are clean, Hi-Tech, Professional Sales that only take hours. Not all estates are best liquidated by auction, but if they are, will will do it or suggest a better alternative.
